These photos are from the collection of the late Inez Johnson, Helen's mom.

The photos, many of them over 80 years old, have been scanned and

left at a higher resolution in order

to capture the essence of a time long passed and forgotten.

Photos with dates and locations are so noted, and others are left as "unknown " .

All photos included, form a timeline in the life of Miss Helen Johnson.

For those of us who knew her, Miss Helen was

an extremely private person.

These photos reveal a side of her unknown to us-

a truly remarkable woman who led a long and fruitful life.

Please join us as we take a step back in time to get a glimpse of the early years of the woman

we fondly knew as "Miss Helen".

Hope you enjoyed the trip down memory lane. I only regret that she did not share more of her life story with us.

Regardless it was quite an experience going through the boxes of old photos and finding the ones that pertained to Miss Helen.

I came away with a new found respect and admiration for her

I know she did not proclaim her self a feminist, but she did the job of a feminist by breaking new ground.

I think she just did what she wanted to do period and would not let sexism get in her way

I have learned so much from her and I was so glad I was able to meet her and form a bond of friendship.

I cannot say it was all peaches and cream because she had a way of getting under my skin

But now I know what that was all about

She had to learn to be tough and took a no nonsense approach and that is what sustained her

She probably had to put up with a lot of bull, and found ways to deal with it

We will miss you Miss Helen, and I was so glad I got to know ya.

HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU
